DevOps Apprenticeship or Bootcamp? Your UK Training Options

A DevOps apprenticeship combines a paid job with training. A CloudPros bootcamp lets you build cloud and DevOps skills alongside your current work through 20 weeks of live weekend classes, practical projects and career support. Choose the apprenticeship route for employment-based training; choose CloudPros for a structured course you can join without first securing an apprenticeship job.

DevOps Apprenticeship or Bootcamp? Your UK Training Options

Two different ways into DevOps

An apprenticeship places your learning inside a job. A bootcamp gives you a focused programme you can take while keeping your current role or preparing for a career change. Both can develop useful skills; the practical difference is how you enter and organise the training.

What a DevOps apprenticeship involves

GOV.UK describes an apprenticeship as a paid job with training. You work with experienced colleagues and spend time learning the skills needed for the occupation. The DevOps engineer standard in England covers areas such as scripting, delivery automation, infrastructure as code and monitoring.

This route fits someone who wants employment and training together and is ready to apply for an apprenticeship job. Entry is through the employer's recruitment process. England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland run separate apprenticeship systems.

Why choose CloudPros instead?

CloudPros suits someone who wants to make progress without first finding a training employer. You get a defined learning sequence, live explanations and feedback while you build. Weekend teaching allows you to keep working during the programme, and recordings let you revisit lessons.

Your instructor, Olakunle Abiola, brings more than 11 years of cloud and DevOps experience. With up to 15 learners in a class, there is room to ask why a command works, how a deployment failed and what to try next.

You begin with Linux, Git and Python. You then work through AWS, containers, delivery pipelines, Terraform and Kubernetes. The emphasis is on using those tools together: change the application, test it, deploy it and understand what happens when something breaks.

What will you have to talk about in interviews?

A list of tools is a start. A project gives you a story: what you needed to build, which decisions you made and how you handled a problem.

Course workA useful interview example
Run and monitor an applicationExplain how you checked service health and found a fault
Manage changes through GitWalk through a branch, a reviewed change and the reason for it
Build a delivery pipelineShow how a failed check stopped a bad release
Define infrastructure with TerraformExplain how another person can recreate your environment
Deploy with containers and KubernetesDescribe a rollout, its health checks and a recovery

CloudPros includes CV and LinkedIn reviews and mock interviews to help you turn that work into clear applications. If you already work in IT support, QA or development, you can connect those new skills to your existing experience.

Can a beginner follow the programme?

Yes. The course starts with the foundations and builds towards a connected cloud environment. You need a laptop, reliable internet and regular time to practise. You do not need to arrive knowing AWS, Docker or Kubernetes.

More than 100 learners have graduated from CloudPros. The programme is rated 5 out of 5 from 50+ reviews; the reviews page includes student stories and video testimonials.
